Collection: Georges Laval
Cumières, Vallée de la Marne, Champagne - 2.5ha. under vine - Biodynamic viticulture
In 1971, Jacques Cousteau published a report that residual pesticides could be found in the Arctic Ice, an area with little crops to treat. This report was read by a young Champagne grower, whose vineyards lay in the shadows of the Abbey of Hautvilliers, Georges Laval. So shocked was he, he realised a change needed to occur. So, the conversion to Organics began. In doing so he would become one of the very first in Champagne to start this. Vincent, his son, took over in 1996 and continues what he believes is this essential work. Respect to the environment, preservation of fruit aromas and flavours of terroir. The building blocks of great Champagne. We feel very fortunate to have a small allocation of Vincent’s wines – considered by many to be some of the finest in the region.
