Collection: Le More Bianche
Roero, Piedmont - Under 5ha. under vine - Organic viticulture
Our first introduction to the wines of Ale was from an old friend. His Nebiulin was the wine she drank every day, and it has taken us five years to finally be able to import it. From Roero, Ale qualified as a genealogist and went to work for the larger, more conventional wineries in the region. Technical, chemical, unimaginative and soulless. His life changed when he inherited the Le More Bianche estate, a 3.5-hectare parcel in Roero planted with Barbera and Nebbiolo. When the farm came to him, he made the immediate decision to create a product opposite to what he had been making for all those past years. Converting to Organics, only working with natural yeasts and also practising minimum intervention at all points. It was a new journey but, due to all his experience, he has still managed to create clear and varietal wines from the region. He has also rented a 1.5-hectare parcel of Arneis and Nebbiolo a short journey from his home. Fermentation and ageing are in a mixture of ceramic, concrete and wood. He also has an amphora to play with for his orange wines. Steel is only used before bottling.
