Grape: Muscato
Country: Australia
Region: Barossa Valley
Farming: Biodynamic
Another genre bending wine from Tom. An aromatic variety that can often feel heady and blousy but this is something different. It feels like fresh nectarines with a real steely quality on the nose, with a touch of something herbal, eucalyptus maybe. Vibrant on the palate, a touch of the floral notes starting to come through. This is delicious.
A Barossa native, Tom studied agriculture before moving to Italy and spending 6 years working for Sean O’Callaghan of Tenuta di Carleone in Chianti Classico. In 2007 he returned to Australia and introduced the Barossa Valley to biodynamic, low intervention, natural winemaking - total anathema at that time. His wines have gained somewhat of a cult status over the years and despite them not being on the UK market for over two years, many have welcomed them back with great excitement.
