Few producers are as closely associated with their appellation as Jean-Louis Chave is with Hermitage. For generations, the family has assembled fruit from a mosaic of vineyards across the hill, each contributing something different to the final wine: structure from Bessards, generosity from Le Méal, perfume from L'Ermite and depth from Les Beaumes. The result is not simply a wine from Hermitage, but one of its defining expressions.

The 2019 captures both the power of the vintage and the restraint that has long distinguished the domaine's wines. Dark fruit, spice, olive and granite notes sit beneath a remarkable sense of balance and precision, while the structure suggests a wine that will continue to evolve for decades to come.
