Named in honour of René Lalou, the visionary president who shaped the modern identity of the house for more than three decades, R. Lalou represents G.H. Mumm's most ambitious expression of vintage Champagne. Drawn exclusively from Grand Cru vineyards in the Montagne de Reims and Côte des Blancs, it combines the breadth and precision that only the great houses can achieve through careful selection and blending.

Now with more than twenty-five years in bottle, the 1998 is beginning to move towards maturity but the journey is far from over. There are layers of citrus, toasted hazelnuts, brioche and chalk with an level of persistence on the finish that means a sip could last an hour. A wine that serves as a reminder that, whether from a celebrated house or an independent grower, great Champagne ultimately speaks the same language of place and time.
