Ismael Gozalo, the free-spirited grower behind Microbio, has made a name for himself as one of Spain’s most exciting natural winemakers. Based in the tiny village of Nieva, in Rueda, he works with some of the oldest ungrafted Verdejo vines in the world. Nieva York is his playful, unfiltered take on Verdejo, a wine that captures the raw energy of these sandy, phylloxera-resistant soils.
