A masterclass in patience and tradition, this 2013 is a benchmark Reserva from one of Rioja’s most revered houses. It spent six years aging patiently in large American oak barrels before being bottled unfiltered. Released in 2025—almost 12 years after harvest—the wine reveals extraordinary finesse and energy. The cooler, rain-heavy vintage produced lower yields, resulting in vibrant acidity, fine-boned tannins, and a lightness of structure that belies its depth. On the nose and palate, it offers ethereal elegance: dried rose petals, forest floor, leather, cigar box, wild herbs, balsamic spice, and a whisper of tobacco, all wrapped in a silky, refined texture.
Viña Tondonia is one of the few remaining Rioja estates committed to old-world winemaking. No stainless steel. No new oak. Just gravitas, craft, and a cellar full of heirloom barrels.
